Born in Salatiga in May 1975. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at the Islamic University of Indonesia (1998) and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations at Gajah Mada University (1999). He then earned a Master of Commerce (Accounting) from the University of New South Wales (2004) and a Doctor of Philosophy at Curtin University (2014).

Previously, Arief Rahman had experience as a consultant at The World Bank – Provincial Health Project in Yogyakarta (1999-2002), Director of Academic Affairs at the Islamic University of Indonesia (2014-2018), and as Editor in Chief at the Indonesian Accounting and Auditing Journal (2015-2017). .

Apart from being a Commissioner, currently he also plays an active role at the Islamic University of Indonesia as an ERP SAP Trainer (FICO module) (Since 2007), Audit Committee at PT. Prambanan, Borobudur and Ratu Boko Temple Tourism Park (Persero) – State Owned Enterprise (Since 2018) and Vice Dean for Resources Management at the Islamic University of Indonesia (Since 2018).
